Dreamweaver / Updaters not working

I am running CS5 master collection on a Macbook Pro, OS 10.9.2. Machine is at home, so no firewalls, etc. A few days ago, Dreamweaver stopped working. It won't launch. When trying to launch, it gets to a point where the apple menu and the "Dreamweaver" menu show at the top of the screen, and just hangs there. I have tried the Adobe Updater for all Adobe Apps, but for every one I get an error message that says "There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later." I have tried several times, and always receive the same errors. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

    try resetting your preferences, first.

then clean, if you're going to reinstall.  ie, use the adobe cleaner.

    Hi JPFive55,

Please try downloading the update manually from : Product updates  and check.

Thank you both for your feedback. I uninstalled Dreamweaver, and tried to install it again from the original Master Collection installer. I still had the same problem, Dreamweaver hung up on launch.

Then, I followed Rave's suggestion. Downloaded the update manually from the link provided. Upon trying to launch Dreamweaver, I received the error message: You can't open the application "Adobe Dreamweaver CS5" because it is not supported on this type of Mac.

I've been using Dreamweaver CS5 on this machine for a few years now...

Again, thanks for your help, it's greatly appreciated.

try resetting its preferences by holding down shift-cmd-alt while starting dw.  if done correctly you'll see a confirmation dialog.

    if that fails, reinstall.

if that fails, uninstall, clean and reinstall per, Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
