Duplicate versions of apps

I just installed the latest Creative Cloud updates for Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. It didn't overwrite the previous versions like it usually does when I install the updates, so I now have duplicate versions of the apps. Has this happened for other people? Should I uninstall the previous versions?

I found this happened even when I told the installer to remove the old version. But its OK to uninstall old versions after the event anyhow.

That seems odd.  Do you have more than one Creative Cloud account?

There is an Advanced option to remove old versions when upgrading.  But I prefer to keep the old ones until I'm completely certain that the new versions won't interrupt my workflow.   When I'm ready to remove old versions, I run the uninstallers.
