I had photoelements 8 and trial 10 on my computer. Decided to postpone for now buying 10

I uninstalled 10.

Something did not go right with the 10 uninstall as now 8 won't work.

I have tried reinstalling 8 from the cd. it starts uninstalling 8 and stops part way saying it cant continue because of above error.

I have tried a computer restore too.

What next?

Did you install Photoshop Elements 8 initially over a network or install from a particular location?  This type of error typically is given by Windows when it no longer has access to the install files which were originally used.

What type of error are you receiving within Elements 8?  It might be easier to solve for that issue than for you to locate the appropriate registry entries to remove the offending value.
