If it is an Acrobat error, perhaps this thread will help: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4432905

Take some Valium and hang on to your socks... Pardon the quip, but we need much more info. What is actually updating? What system? Nobody here knows all the weird and fantastic error codes any Adobe software can spit out under mysterious circumstances, so a lot more info is required.

Thank you for responding to my question. When I searched for answers to my problem, it seemed that MANY people have had the same problem when trying to download acrobat_com. In my searching, it was always suggested to download an "error repair" program that, in the end, you had to pay to have them fix the problem. I didn't want to do that. I just found one site where it was suggested to remove acrobat AIR from the computer because it was no longer supported (?). Then to go through acrobat.com. That's when I learned also that, for me, I really don't need acrobat for reading pdf files. Bottom line, I don't have to deal with fixing that stupid error! I have no idea if I explained this well or if it helps anyone else, because I am so illiterate when it comes to computers. I hope so. Thanks again.
