Errors when attempting to install Photoshop CS5 Extended

I am trying to install Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended onto an Asus laptop with Windows 7, 4 GB RAM (3.61 GB usable), 64-bit operating system, and 56.4 GB free on the C drive.  I have successfully installed this program using this disc on my previous laptop, which has recently come to the end of its days, so I don't have a reason to suspect that the disc is damaged.

I can get through about 50% of the installation, and then it tells me that it is unable to complete the installation due to errors.  The log file is at the end of this post.  I have tried using the Creative Cloud Clean-Up feature, which has had no effect.  I'm kinda stuck at this point, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully you have been able to solve the issue with your installation of Photoshop CS5 extended. If not, did you try all the solutions in this document? Errors "Exit Code 6" and "Exit Code 7" installing Adobe Creative Cloud, CS6, and CS5.5

At this point, I have also tried to disable all start-up programs per the instructions on the adobe website, and that got me exactly the same set of error messages.
