Failed CS4 upgrade

A CS4 upgrade purchased in 2009, from full CS3, failed with the  error "insufficient hard drive space or insufficient administrator rights" when I recently reinstalled Windows 7. Both are nonsense. Has Adobe placed a time limit on reinstallations of upgrades e.g following a Windows reinstallation and would an upgrade fron CS3 to the new CS6 produce the same error message?

There's certainly no time limit. A Perpetual license is just that - perpetual.

What steps did you follow to install the CS4 upgrade?

From here, try uninstalling CS3 and CS4, run the Cleaner Tool http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html

Then reinstall just the CS4 upgrade (no need to first reinstall the full version of CS3) using your CS4 upgrade serial.

The installer will ask for your CS3 serial and then continue installing CS4.

Hi and thanks. I downloaded the cscleaner tool as per your advice. When I ran this I got a DOS prompt  e: English or : Japanese. When I typed the ovbious e: English nothng happened so that was a brick wall! So I tried installing CS4 without a prior CS3 installation....still doesnt work.
