This message comes up for pupils on our network after the splash screen.

Fine for teachers.

Pupils can launch Photoshop without problems.

Solutions?

WouterK12 are you able to launch Fireworks on a Standard user account?  If so then you can try reducing permissions as needed.  This should help you discover which restriction that has been placed which is causing Fireworks to not function under your Pupil's user account.

Our setup:

- Windows 2008 R2 servers

- Windows 7 client

Other components of the CS6 suite work fine under the pupil log in

Fireworks works fine as a teacher.

For a pupil launching Fireworks  you see the splash screen, the error box with 'file locked' - no indication where the application is trying to write to.

Currently a tiny needle in a haystack.

Thank you for your reply Mylenium. Any further thoughts?

We don't know anything about your system nor the exact error so beyond the obvious "it's a user privileges issue" nobody can advise.

Hi Jeff,

Standard user account is fine.

Also our staff account is fairly restricted.

Fireworks itself does not give a clue which file it is expecting write access to.

Users have full control over their home folders.

Thank you for the update WouterK12.  Standard user accounts are the most restricted user accounts that we typically test.  Unfortunately we don't have installation structure technical documents available for CS6 products. As such I am unable to advise you further regarding permissions which are required.

I would recommend you start with the standard user account and then implement the additional restrictions you wish to have in place.
