Flash has 'known critical issues' and won't install. Any ideas?

I'm attempting to update flash using Safari 7.1.2.  Install hangs up anywhere from 30 - 42%.  When checking Adobe Preferances, Security , I see a hazard sign....apparently there are critical Security issues with the version of Flash I'm attempsing to install and Safari isn't allowing it.  Any thoughts are welcome.  Thanks!
