Freezes and Crashes with Illustrator and Indesign

I've had ongoing troubles with Indesign and Illustrator. I've had multiple freezes with the wheel spinning as well as a problem where the fonts in the dialogue windows weren't visible anymore. Both of them needed forced restarts. Does anyone have the same problems and maybe a solution?

I'm working with a Mac (still running on 10.14.6);  2,2 GHz Intel Core i7; 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3; 

Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB and two external Monitors.
