Had to uninstall all applications to get creative cloud to open again

I just went through a frustrating evening where creative cloud would load forever and photoshop wouldn't let me save. Every time I would click Save or Save As Photoshop would do absolutely nothing. I have folder protection in Windows Defender off. I was able to export images but not save PSD projects. When I went to repair my creative cloud installation, it would not recognise my existing program installations no matter what. Even after I selected the right folder specifically. I guess paying 50 dollars a month nets you broken software. I never had a problem like this with CS 6.

Same problem with New ..., Save and Save As functions in PS 2020 not doing anything (PS 2019 works fine). Reinstalled PS several times and osMac Catalina, all to no avail. Unfortunately these operations make PS 2020 unusable! Also when opening PS 2020 it displays nothing until I select the already ticked Default Workspace from the Window menu.
