Having trouble opening Acrobat XI Stan after installation

I'm at work and it's on a PC - Windows Vista.

    Yes, I downloaded the installation file and it took about an hour for it to download. I'm not clear on what you mean about downloading pro and activating to standard. I purchased the standard.

    you need the standard installation file. there is no standard trial and the pro trial does not activate to the standard version with a standard serial number.

    if you follow all 7 steps, you can download the installation file via one of the links on this page using a browser that accepts cookies: http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-acrobat-xi-pro-standard-reader-direct-download-links.html

    and install/activate with your serial number.

    if you have a download problem (eg, you see an error page or you are offered an incorrect version), you probably didn't follow all 7 steps.  typically, failure to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 is the problem, but your browser must also allow cookies so that (a restrictive browser setting) is another potential source of problems.

    right click>click 'run as administrator'.

    if that fails, explain what you see after doing the above.

    There is a folder on my desktop that is labeled Adobe Acrobat XI, but I don't see the actual application in the folder. I'm a Mac person, so maybe I'm just doing something wrong with downloading to a PC.

    you need to download the installation file and then install the program (by clicking or double clicking the installation file).

    did you download the installation file?  if so, did you click (or double click it)?  if no, download and install, https://www.acrobat.com/free-trial-download.html

    if you purchased acrobat standard, download pro and activate (to standard) with your serial number.
