I also have this problem. But I do not have the PCD folder like the answer suggests.

Photoshop and InDesign have no problem installing and opening but Illustrator always has the configuration error. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times.I am using a MacBook Pro 2011. OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.6
Can anyone help?
