How can I register my product if the serial number only has 20 digits?

I purchased a brand new Sony Vaio notebook several years ago that came with Photoshop Elements, Premiere Elements, Acrobat, Distiller, and Reader pre-installed. I am now upgrading to Windows 10, and would like to be able to install these programs if anything should go wrong. Obviously I have no CD case or emails with serial numbers as these programs were already on the notebook. So I retrieved the serial numbers for Photoshop and Premiere from the About sections for each program (Acrobat, Distiller and Reader do not show any serial numbers). I then tried registering Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements, but cannot do so because the site says the serial numbers should be 24 digits long, and the ones I found in the About sections are only 20 digits long. I assume that to reinstall these programs I'll need to have the products registered on the site, is that correct?

Any help would be appreciated.

If the software cam e with the machine it is likely that the software can only be used for that machine... though that should be defined as part of your purchase agreement for the machine so the terms of use might be documented for you somewhere.

The serial numbers displayed in the About option are not going to be the application serial numbers.  You will have to contact the vendor that sold you the machine in order to see what options you have for re-acquiring the software.  As I said, you are likely to find your allowed usage is limited to the machine you purchased.

I do indeed plan on using it on the same machine, I'm only upgrading Windows. I'll check the documentation and contact the vendor. Thanks for the advice.
