How do I know the pop up notice to update is legitamate and check the installation? I understand that you have to make sure all previous updates have been deleted before adding a new update.

no adobe updates need to be removed or rolled back to install later updates.

and what app is triggering the popup?

When I boot up, I get a small balloon window in the task bar stating there is an Adobe X update available.  I looked in MSCONFIG and while there are Adobe programs being loaded, I didn't see a particular one stating updates.  Perhaps I am being overly cautious, but didn't want to get a virus if someone malicious got into my computer.  I do run a firewall and anti-virus program (Norton).

I don' t see on the Adobe site where to download updates.  That would seem to be the safest approach.  I am using Acrobat X Pro v.10.1.13. Thanks

there are no more acrobat x updates coming out now or in the future.

the acrobat x updates are available here,  http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/

after updating to the last acrobat x version (which you may already have), you should not see any more update nags (from adobe).
