My current Computer is on its last legs, so I ordered a new (upgraded) PC today. I have the stand-alone version (CD) of Lightroom 6 with the installation key. What do I have to do to move this application to a new computer? Does the old application have to be removed before the new one can be loaded on my new computer? What associated files, such as presets, have to be loaded to the new computer?
If the old machine is being retired and not retained as a backup then you should deactivate the installation. This is normally done by opening it and selecting Help -> Deactivate. Your license allows for two activated installations, so you could keep the old as a backup option.
You can just install the software on the new machine using your disc as long as the new machine has a disc drive. If it has no disc drive then there are download options available. Download and install Lightroom 6 (Single App license)
As far as what else to transfer, I don't have any experience/knowledge in that regard. I suggest you ask in the Lightroom forum (Photoshop Lightroom ), though someone here might know enough to help with that as well.
