How do I run lightroom after installing on a mac?

I have just purchased a new macbook pro after my Windows laptop died and downloaded the mac version of Lightroom 5.7.1 from my previous orders in my adobe account I have run the installer for the two .dmg files that were downloaded onto my mac and I now have two icons on the desktop. The installer said the software installed successfuly.

If I click on either of these icons all that happens is that the installer runs again...I can't see how to launch the software and I haven't been prompted to enter the serial code to verify the software...I am stumped.

The is no lightroom launch icon in the dock...if I go into finder and click on either of the two .dmg files I downloaded, all that happens is that the installer runs again.

Any ideas on how I complete this installation and run the software?

OK...so I answered my own question by searching online for how to 'uninstall' an app on a mac. The Apple guide on this mentions something called the 'launchpad' which has it's own grey icon showing a rocket in the dock at the bottom of the screen.

When you click on this it shows all your apps, not just the ones appearing in the dock.

In the launchpad I can see the familiar Lightroom icon, which when I clicked on it, launched Lightroom, which then prompted me for the serial number so that I could complete the installation.

Perhaps this will help other new Mac users to become familiar with the quirks of another operating system.

    Hi,

Did you check under the Applications folder?

    Hi Sheena,

thank you for responding so quickly...I expect I could have found Lightroom in the applications folder, but I discovered it in the launchpad and ran it from there.

I am going to see ig I can work out how to add Lightroom to the dock next....in another hour or two I might work that out...the Mac feels so weird after windows...I wonder if these competing companies make things deliberately different so that people don't like to switch between their products.

    Best wishes

    Simon.
