    ‌ok. But is it really neccessary to add the required memory for each of the programs. I am about to buy a new iMac and going from 8 ghx to 16 means a lot of exstra cost?

    If, as you seemingly indicated, you are going to be running all three programs at the same time then you need to consider what each one wants to draw on for memory.  If you only plan to actually be running one of them at a time (they could all be opened) then I would not sweat the sum of them as being what you will need.
