How to sync files to creative cloud and open on another computer

I have tried to save photos from lightroom into my Creative Cloud folder from my desktop and open them again on my laptop. When I open the photos all of my edits do not come through, but are still saved when I open again on my desktop. Is there a certain way to save them so that the edits can come through and I can edit on my laptop without having to export and lose the history function?
