I accidentally bought the student version

I accidentally bought the student version of photoshop instead of the individual version which was cheaper any way. when I went back to the store they refuse to swap it what do I do. As I am not a student I don't have any student id or proof

Why did you buy a student version if you aren’t a student?

they were all mixed up at the display and I was in a bit of a rush I just assumed it was an individual version as it was in the same pile only to get home and realise that was not the case

Only the store can refund it. As you're not a student it won't work for you. But they may have a policy forbidding the refund of opened software.

I'm somewhat confused. CC software does not come in a box it is downloaded. So what exactly did you buy in the store?
