I am having problems trying to install the new LR 5.4 update

I have tried three times to install LR 5.4 and failed.  At one point, I lost my LR,5.3 and had to reinstall it.  Thank goodness that worked.  How do I install LR 5.4?

    Goldenlightdigital do you receive an error message when you try to apply the update?  Which operating system are you using?  Finally do you own a perpetual copy of Lightroom 5 or are you installing Lightroom as part of your Creative Cloud membership?

    No error message, Windows 7, I have a perpetual copy.
