Question

I am trying to install Adobe After Effects 7.0 on my new laptop and unable to activate the license. I have never installed it on any other system before and this is the first time I am using my license/serial number to activate the software.

The activation screen asks for a number that the phone rep provides. When I called the number it directed me to go online for support. I also tried to chat with a rep and they directed me to this forum. Could someone help me with the installation please...my kids have already started their project using the trial version and need this installed for their presentation.

A lot has happened while that disk is sat gathering dust. 10 years is FOREVER in computer terms. So the activation server was turned off long, long ago, for example.

Yes, surprisingly the software was still being  'sold' last year for which I paid and redeemed the disk code for a serial number in Jan 2015. Of course I bought the software through my college at a clearance price. But still would have liked to use it.

You mean After Effects VERSION 7?  Is this an older computer with an older OS?  If not, you machine may be too advanced to run it..  We need details.

Hi Dave, yes After Effects 7.0 (from my installation Disk) on a new laptop that is on Windows 10 Home version.

Hope this additional info helps. The software installs fine but the activation is not happening. The online activation reports Server Not available and provides options to Call an Toll Free Number and asks to provide the rep the serial numbers.

    ‌REfer to this:

Error: "Activation Server Unavailable" | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3

DAve has a point, though. Quite likely there will be unavoidable issues installing and using such an old version on Win 10.
