I am Unable To Deactivate/Reactivate Adobe Acrobat Standard X due to Error Code #194:8

I have a perpetual license of Adobe Acrobat X and can use it on my old computer. I want to change to a new computer, but I can’t deactivate Adobe Acrobat X on the old computer, and therefore cannot reactivate on the new computer.

Does anyone know if this will be possible or futile to try?

I followed this advice to no avail:

I followed the advice of Peru Bob to contact adobe support and request an "activation count reset", but the chat agent said

  • We dont have access to activation counter, the servers have been decommisioned
  • Please post your query in adobe community forum for latest help on this
  • The article you are refereeing to is very old article , which no longer applicable

    Thank you for posting, @magical_questioner9eb1.

Based on the information you've shared, Acrobat X (Acrobat 10) is a legacy product that reached end of support several years ago. Adobe has also retired the activation servers used by Acrobat X and certain other older perpetual-license products.

As a result, deactivation and reactivation requests may no longer complete successfully, leading to errors such as #194:8.

For additional information, please see Adobe's documentation regarding the end of support for Acrobat X and retired activation services:

End of Support for Acrobat X

If you have the original purchase records or serial number, please contact Adobe directly to confirm whether any activation options remain available for your specific license. Otherwise, consider upgrading to a currently supported version of Acrobat.

I’ve edited my reply on the old thread you referenced because as @kglad said, “things change.”
