Correct answer assause

In CS2, the authentication server went down long ago.
The non-certified version was discontinued last May.
So it can no longer be used now.

That's correct. CS1, CS2 and CS3 are officially dead now.  It is no longer possible to re-install.  You must replace CS2 with modern software or a paid Creative Cloud plan.

Photoshop Elements (approx $100, no subscription needed)

Creative Cloud Photography Plan (approx $10/month for 1 year subscription)

Beware of fake Adobe reps offering to sell you Creative Suite.  It's a scam.  Adobe ended all sales & supplies of Creative Suite in 2017.  It's not legally sold by any vendor, retailer or country,
