Question

I have had CS6 for two years, and recently, my AE and Premiere have stopped working.

Sometime a few moths ago, my After effects and Premiere stopped working. The programs begin to boot up, but the starting animation stops suddenly after a second or two, and I cannot get the program to open at all now. PS is also acting strange, as I cannot click to open a jpeg or image now without having PS open already. I really need these programs for my freelance work, please, please help me out with this. Thanks.

    Hi Zombie John,

Which troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

If you've done nothing, check these things:

Also, as Mylenium says, we need a lot more info. We don't even know what kind of computer you have: FAQ: What information should I provide when asking a question on this forum?

    Thanks,
    Kevin

I'm not getting any error messages at all. The startup animation begins, then just never opens. I have no log of error or crashes, never had any issues before, it just stopped working, and other programs in my CS6 started having issues from that point on. Suggestions?

I did get an error screen that says "The drive or network connection that the shortcut " refers to is unavailable. Make sure the disk is properly inserted or the network resource is available, then try again. I have my CS6 in a folder on my desktop, but placed Premiere onto my taskbar to see if it would run, and that's what I got.

Had a similar problem last year. Had to undo a bunch of nVidia updates until Premiere began opening again. I think i got the specific update from Matrox because i had their MiniMAX attached. I think the issue had something to do with their codec. After backpedaling I then made it so the GPU could not download any more updates. Initially i googled the codec that Premiere hung on. It told me its name in the center of the screen during Premiere's initialization. Wikipedia is a useful resource
