I have photoshop 3.0 on CD and I would like to use it with windows 8.1. is it possible to update the software?

I have photoshop 3.0 on CD and I would like to use it with windows 8.1. Is it possible to update the software? or get it to work somehow? 

windows 8.1 x64 is what I am using and it won't let me load the setup.

    unless that's ps cs3, it probably is too old to install on a modern os like win 8.  you could try compatibility mode, though.

    Thanks for the reply, I did try all compatibility modes that where available. I was wondering if I had any other options such as purchasing an update package for it. I have seen updates listed on the site as low as version 5 but I did not notice anything before that.
