did you follow the photoshop directions to unlock?  if yes, and that failed, right click and click "run as administrator".

    PC Win7

    Eset Nod32 ani-virus

I couldn't get a high enough resolution screen shot so I typed the messages below.

I have CS5 and CS3 on my pc. CS3 is my personal purchase. CS5 is second license usage from work off site. I telecommute sometimes so have the two available CS5 licenses on two computers.

I loaded CS6 with no error messages.

Programs that work:  Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver

Programs that don’t work: Photoshop, Indesign, Bridge

    PHOTOHSOP ERROR MESSAGE:

Could not open a scratch file because the file is locked, you do not have necessary access permission, or another program is using the file. Use the ‘Properties” command in the windows Explorer to unlock the file.

Could not initialize Photoshop because the file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file. Use the ‘Properties’ command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file.

    INDESIGN ERROR MESSAGE

Upon starting the program, it gets this message as soon as the main window loads:

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

    BRDIGE

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

I don't remember seeing anything asking or directing me about locking. Should I reinstall and command "run as administrator" somehwere? I am sorry for my ingonorance. I've been isntalling Adobe software for 17 years and have never had this happen.

That's most likely your security suite/ virus scanner. Provide more info and exact system specs. As a start, turn such tools off and/or create a rule that allows Adobe apps to run.
