I just bought Lightroom 6 for Mac OS X and it turns out that it cannot install on a case-sensitive volume.

As other software that I use relies on case-sensitivity, I cannot use Lightroom 6. How do I get a refund?

I had the same problem, then tried installing Lightroom from the AppStore. That worked. I was then able to link it to my google account and this made the trick for the subscription I had already taken on Adobe website.
