    If you're installing an upgrade e.g. CS3 or CS4 then you don't need to first install the full version of CS.

    All you need to do is install the latest version of the software (even if it's an upgrade), enter the upgrade serial number then enter the serial number from any qualifying earlier version (even if that's also an upgrade).

    Then you're good to go.
