I own single user Lightroom 6 for some reason when I check for updates on my desktop Creative Cloud update
screen comes up. It does not do that on my laptop. How do I turn off or remove CC so I can get necessary updates on LR 6

Hi Kafloyd71,
Please follow the below steps and try again :
Mac -
1- Turn OFF any security software installed along with system Firewall.
2- Please check if you have any browser security extensions installed, please disable them. ( Eg: AD BLOCK, Mcafee site/web adviser, internet security toolbar etc )
3- Go to : Apple Icon > System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General > " Allow apps downloaded from " change this to ANYWHERE ( To make these changes click on the Padlock in the left bottom corner of this window and enter your computer password )
****These changes are temporary you can revert these changes back to normal once your Creative Cloud app is up and running ****
Win -
1- Turn OFF any security software installed along with system Firewall.
2- Please check if you have any browser security extensions installed, please disable them. ( Eg: AD BLOCK, Mcafee site/web adviser, internet security toolbar etc )
If it still fails, kinldy follow the cleanup steps to remove Creative Cloud manually from your machine, mentioned below :

2- Go To: Finder > Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installer > Uninstall Adobe Creative cloud ( if having trouble uninstalling it Trash it )
3- Go To: Finder > Applications > Utilities > ( Delete these two folders - Adobe creative cloud and Adobe Application Manager )
4- Then run the cleaner tool to remove creative cloud and Adobe Application Manager ( if still left in machine )
5- Right click on Finder icon and select "Go-To" Folder option.
