i purchased cd version of cs5 for my son but we now don't have a cd drive!

i bought the boxed cd version of photoshop cs5 extended for my son. but we just replaced our mac mini with a brand new iMac, which has no cd drive.

i thought it would be no problem as i could download it and use the same serial number, but the downloads only show cs6 - will my cs5 serial number work?

    No. You would need the CS5 version. Serial numbers are version specific. In case you have the old disks with you copy the contents of the disk on a USB drive(is possible) and copy the contents from the USB to your new computer and run the installer from your new machine. If this is not possible you can download CS5 from here directly from your new machine.
