I want to save it with a bmp extension.

Help me save the image as .BMP!

96 dpi, 16 bit, R5G6B5, .bmp

The original file is .bmp.

This is the way I tried it.

1. Open the original file in Photoshop.

2. Save the original file with a different name (Shift + Ctrl + S).

3. Set the file format to (.BMP) and save it.

4. The BMP Options window appears. In the options window, set R5G6B5 by pressing 16bit, Advanced mode.

5. Click OK.

I saved it as bmp, but I could not set 96 dpi.

This is how I tried to set the 96 dpi.

1. Open the .BMP file in Photoshop.

2. Image size (I) In Alt + Ctrl + I, set size 800x600, 96dpi.

3. Save the original file with a different name (Shift + Ctrl + S).

4. Can not save to BMP!

How can I save with BMP?

In Photoshop use the menu:

Image >> Mode

Choose 8 bits/channel

Then use File >> Save As

bmp then becomes available in the format list. Then go to:

Image >> Image Size

Change resolution to 96

This will automatically change the width and height but it should be possible to re-enter the original dimensions.

Press Ctrl+S to re-save and overwrite.

a Bmp is 8 bit only... if you have 16 bits then a Portable Bit Map is an option but they are not the same thing

BMP is not a format storing the pixel density as of my knowledge. In addition the format is widly unused today and Tiff, Jpeg and PNG took over.

With save as you can select any file format that is supported for the current settings.
