Illustrator to Indesign resolution is very poor help!

i am just trying to place a saved piece from illustrator to indesign for creating a portfolio. everytime ive tried many different ways the resolution of the artwork in indesign looks so bad. i just want to figure out

how to place the image with good quality. thanks! im also very beginner so more description the better for me:)
