Question

Incomplete installation of APE 10

When I was installing APE 10 I left the room to get a soda.

When I came back the screen said to insert Disk 2 but when I tried to eject Disk 1 the tray would not open so I could put in Disk 2.

My question...

I'm thinking the installation did not complete because whatever is on Disk 2 did not get installed.

I got back to the desktop and rebooted.

Then I put in Disk 1 again and now I am asked if I want to uninstall APE 10 which is not the case.

What do I need to do to finish the installation?

Thanks,

Jerry

Jerry have you tried opening Photoshop Elements to see if it is functioning?  Beyond that if you can please answer the following questions so we can better assist you;

Which elements did you buy?  Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements or a bundle of both?

Which operating system are you using?  Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

I would also recommend reviewing Install | Premiere Elements | Photoshop Elements | Windows | Mac OS not only does it have step by step instructions for installing but it also lists the contents of the discs depending on what you purchased.

Yes I can open Photoshop Elements 10.

I am running the Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit version.

It didn’t occur to me there were disks for the 32-bit, 64-bit and Mac versions.

I just inserted Disk 1, when I began the installation.

When Disk 1’s part of the installation finished I was prompted to insert Disk 2.

It was at that point I was not allowed (could not) open the DVD tray to insert Disk 2.

My experience with other applications that come on multiple disk is that the software opens the DVD tray for you and prompts you to insert the next disk.

I got back to the desktop but don’t remember exactly what I did.

Today when I insert Disk 2 and clicked Autoplay.exe I get the message Allow the following program to make changes…, to which I clicked yes.

At that point the screen updates with a button to Install Adobe Premier Elements 10 Trial.

I closed the window without installing Adobe Premier Elements 10 Trial — I don’t know at this point if I even want it.

So then I inserted Disk 1 again and clicked Autoplay.exe and clicked Yes to allow the program to make changes.

The next dialog says…

The InstallShield Wizard will allow you to remove Adobe Photoshop Elements 10. To continue click Next.

The next dialog entitled Program Maintenance has two check boxes

Remove Preferences which is unchecked and

Deactivate your application which is checked by default.

Also there is two wordy paragraphs entitled IMPORTANT: (I don’t want to type in the text of both)

I don’t understand the ramifications of those paragraphs so I clicked Cancel and exited to the desktop.

All I want to accomplish is do a fresh install of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and hopefully get the 64-bit version installed on my computer.

Can you help me with a clarification of what I am to do to accomplish this?

Thanking you in advance for your insight,

Jerry

Jerry thank you for your response.  Disc 2 of Photoshop Elements 10 contains the trial for Premiere Elements 10.  There is an option when installing Photoshop Elements to install the Premiere Elements 10 trial as well.  When this option is checked the installer will prompt you to insert disc 2.

Photoshop Elements 10's first disk is a 32-bit installer, the 2nd disk is a 64-bit installer. You install from one or the other not both.
