incredibly difficult path to install demo

1: Locate demo on website

Easy

2: Install Adobe Download Assistant

Okay.

3: Sign in.

I've forgotten my password.

4: Have us send you an email with your password reset.

Done, email never arrives. Seriously, I've waited 3 hours. I even requested it twice.

5: Never mind. Create new account.

In process...

6: Create screen name.

Rejected, no reason given.

Different name.

Rejected, no reason given.

Looks at top right of screen, screen name already there but I am stuck on the page to enter a screen name to continue.

7: Screw that, skip it, go to installer.

ADA requires AIR

8: Downloads AIR installer.

9: Installed AIR

10: Installed ADA

11: Selected InDesign: 8 HOURS to download.

So, now I am installing TWO things just to get to a demo. I am so pissed at the waste of time I might just quit where I am. (The Quark 9 demo required me to sign in to download the QUARK DEMO installer.) = 2 steps.

I have slow DSL at work (Mac), fast cable at home (PC). I downloaded the Quark 9 Mac demo on my PC at home, because it was simply a request for the file and a login.

Adobe doesn't allow me an easy way to do this so I am now stuck, waiting... oh now it says 9 hours.

Why do you have to make getting a demo SO complicated?

Forget it.

Never mind.

After all the above, I am giving up. People in the office have started complaining about the bandwidth I am hogging and it's stuck at 8 hours.

Such a pity I can't just download the In Design demo as a .dmg.

The funniest last DIG Adobe has on me today: The helpful side bar in the Download Assistant warning me I have 30 days left on my In Design demo and to buy it now.

LOL by the time it's downloaded and installed, I will have LOST a day.

Sorry my questions:

1: Why so complicated to get a demo? Why is it not login and download file?

2: Is there a way to download just the InDesign Mac demo... in a dmg or similar file so I can do it at home, move it to work?

SatsihFJH we have been experiencing some difficulties with the password reset feature.  I would recommend contacting our support team if you need your password reset as they can reset it instantly for you.

For the InDesign Demo you can download it on your Mac at home from http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=indesign.  Once downloaded you can copy it to a USB drive to bring to your office.

Jeff,

Thanks for your reply. To be precise, I have a PC at home. Using the link you have provided, will I be able to download the Mac version on a PC running Windows 7, to copy on a flash drive to bring to work to install on a Mac running OSX Lion?

I did this last night with the Quark 9 demo, and installed it today.

Thanks in advance,

Satish

Edit: I just tried the link here at work and it looks like it will require me to install the ADA which will take me down this same path when I get to my PC at home. If I install these different apps on my PC, will I be able to download the Mac installer?
