I have Adobe CC and under updates it shows that InDesign is updated, but when I check under "about InDesign" it only shows InDesign 8.02. I'm trying to open a file that is 9.1. What shall I do?

That isn't my problem. I was sent an InDesign file that is version 9.1. I can't open it because I have 8.02. I want to be able to update to the latest version because I'm paying monthly to do so, but it is not letting me. It says that I'm already updated. (see screen captures in the previous post).

If you have Adobe Creative Cloud then obiously you can install InDesign CC on same machine where you have already

InDesignCS6 installed.

You can install and run both the version of InDesign on same machine.

It won't give you any problem.

InDesign CS6 won't update to 9.1 becuase it is an update for InDesign CC.

I order to update to 9.1 you need to install InDEsign CC and then update can be aaplied.

The above solution i provided also works when you don't have InDesign CC and like to open CC files in previous version.

Please let me know if you have nay other question.

Hi JPHerberger,

Please try to Sign Out and Sign IN back in Creative Cloud.

Something it does not refresh the cache of Creative Cloud so need to perform manually.

Hope this helps.

Please let me know in case still facing the issue.

So there must be another CS6 version somewhere on your system ! That should not be any problem, you can run multiple versions next to eachother. But your system still thinks that .indd files all belong to that older version, which shpuld automatically be opened. Is it a Mac or a Windows you're working on ? Select such anewer file and try at least the "Open with" command (under File, or with right-click, or maybe control-click on Mac). Does the newer CC version at least show up as an option ?
