initialization problem with CS 5.1

When I tried to open my version of PS, I got this message, "Could not initialize because the preferences file was invalid (it had been deleted).

I tried several more times but got the same answer.  Not sure what to do.

    I was able to uninstall and reinstall the program, and this appears to have solved the problem.

    Greetings!!!

    Please reset the preferences of Photoshop and then try.
