Install of Lightroom 6

I'm trying to install LR6 on my new computer. I bought LR6 as an upgrade back in 2015.

It's telling me I don't have a qualifying product installed, that's because I previously bout LR5 on disk, and the serial for that is long gone, and the only serial I can get from my account in Adobe is for the LR6 upgrade.

So I'm now stuck with an upgrade serial number I can't use. Is anyone able to help me get this installed? If I can't then I'm going to be stuck using a 12 year old macbook pro! Or looking for an alternative piece of software.

Thanks in advance

you need the serial number for your lr 5.  there's no work-around.

when installing an lr 6 upgrade you'll be prompted for the lr 6 serial number.  then because lr5 is not installed, you'll be prompted to select a qualifying upgradeable product (eg, lr 5) and then you'll be prompted for the lr5 serial number.
