Question

install on second computer - can't uninstall on crashed hard drive of old computer - old software

This is re Macromedia DW MX 2004, which I bought legitimately back in the day. Had it installed on my old desktop and my old laptop. The hard drive crashed on the old desktop; irretrievable. I got a new desktop. Would like to load up DW on that and keep it on my old laptop just for backup (settings, etc.) until I'm sure that everything works on the new machine. or unregister

Since I cannot uninstall or un-register DW on the crashed hard drive, Adobe is not letting me install DW on my new "second" machine because it thinks that laptop is my "third" machine.

Adobe tech support will not help me on this, because they don't support old versions of their software. (And Macromedia is now Adobe's software, of course.)

I'm not a tech person, but it seems like this is a switch Adobe could throw at headquarters and just electronically decommision my install on the old desktop, which would allow me to install on the new laptop.

Tech support told me to use this forum. My gal said that Adobe tech people contribute to this forum.

So, hello Adobe tech people! How ya doin'? Is there a fix for this?

Thanks in advance for your support.

Activation for MX 2004 was switched off a couple of years ago.

You need to use a new Adobe supplied serial number when you re-install MX 2004.

See Error: Unable to Activate | Macromedia products

So, how would I go about getting a new serial number from Adobe for an old product?
