Installation blocked by "ShellExtLoader".....

I recently purchase a license for, and downloaded, Adobe Photoshop Elements 11. I use PSE 10 almost daily and was looking forward to the feature updates of 11 BUT.....

All of my attempts to install have been blocked by the above app (ShellExtLoader)...despite my efforts to close it using Activity Monitor (I am usiong a year old iMac, running OSX Mountain Lion) on my instructor's computer in an iMac elementary school computer lab.

This is quite frustrating, as I have to enter all the license and login data before finding that I am blocked once again.

Any thoughts or help much appreciated.

The problem was solved by Adobe tech support chat session...there is a known conflict with SugarSync requiring that the app be shut down before attempting to install PSE. Once I did that, the install was quick and painless. Great tech support...thanks, Adobe.
