We are trying to install CS6 on a new windows computer with windows 8.1. We have bought an updated version for CS5 a couple of years ago and the installation wizard asks for the CS5 serial number, but when we enter the code, the wizard says that the serial number doesnt match the product. We're not sure which package it belongs to, but we tried all packages and the error occured evertime. It did work on another computer 2 of 3 years ago, but we don't have access to that device anymore. Could someone please help us? Thanks

If you are installing CS5 there is no need to do that if your only reason is so that you can install CS6.  CS6 is a standalone product and does not update CS5.   What you will need is to first install CS6 and then activate it with the CS6 serial number.  After that it will notice you do not have a qualifying older version and it is then that you need to select CS5 as that qualifying version and then provide its serial number.
