Hi, i've tried to install Indesign 5 from a disk, as well, as downloaded from the Adobe site. I am having the same issue with both installations. Their is an install error which says, "Inconsistency in the installer database. Please restart your computer and install again." Still have the problem after a restart, and reinstall attempt.

Any idea of whats going on?

Thanks

Please use Adobe Cleaner tool, clean CS5-5 and CS6 previous installed files using Cleaner tool, then install Adobe Application Manager and try to install the product.

You can download Adobe Cleaner tool from the follwoing link :

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/creativesuite/cleanertool/mac/AdobeCreativeSuiteCleanerTool.dmg

And, you can download and install Adobe Application Manager from the following link:

http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/creativesuite/cs5/mac/ApplicationManager2.0_all.dmg

After using Cleaner tool and installing Application Manager, go ahead and install InDesign CS5. This should resolve your issue

I would recommend reviewing the PDApp.log file.  You can find directions on how to do this at Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html#main_Analyze_the_Creative_Suite_5_PDapp_log.
