Question

Installing Acrobat pro 2017 on new laptop sends me into a sign in loop

After running the installer downloaded from my account (Acrobat pro 2017 and entering my serial number), the installation completes, but asks me for an activation, which doesn’t work because I don’t have a subscription, just a perpetual licence. I am unable to get any further. Please can anyone advise?

Acrobat 2017 is End of Life & unsupported.

For security reasons, unsupported apps should not be used when there are safer alternatives you can use instead.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi Meenakshi,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I have used the removal tool and restarted. I then reinstalled Acrobat_2017_Web_WWMUI, entering my serial number, which is accepted. It installs fine.

Upon launch, it first tries to load, then crashes.

Upon second launch, I get a sign in screen.

    I click Sign in now.

    A popup appears with

To sign in, scan this QR code on your mobile device.

You can also sign in by copying the link below and pasting it into an updated web browser:https://to.adobe.com/lsBLJ6SzNdeKmXcg

    RefreshCopy link”

If I scan the QR code on my phone, it loads the sign in page and I enter my login and password. Then I just see a white screen with a spinning blue circle and nothing happens.

If I paste the URL into my browser, it just takes me to the home screen (https://www.adobe.com/home?mv=other&promoid=LLVYT1CM), where I am already logged in.

I cannot get any further than this. Please note, I only have this standalone product, not a subscription.

Yes, it closes the window and respawns the “sign in required” window.

    • Remove the Acrobat application installed on the machine and run the cleaner tool (https://adobe.ly/4vuez1s).

    • Reboot the machine

    • Install Adobe Acrobat from your account.
