Installing Creative Cloud desktop hangs

I successfully created an Adobe account, paid for Creative Cloud for students, downloaded the Creative Cloud installer (on MacOS X 10.6.8, Snow Leopard) and launched it. The progress bar progressed, but hangs at ~95%. It has been running for ~30 minutes. There is no CPU, disk or network activity to speak of (in Activity Monitor). I quit all other apps (then launched Firefox to post this question).

Update: the installer finally finished, after about 60 minutes ( ! ), and the Adobe Application Manager launched, prompted me to log in and agree to terms, then displayed list of apps to install. So all seems well. FYI, I learned from Adobe Support that Mac OS X v.10.7 is the oldest OS version supported by Creative Cloud, and they recommended that I upgrade to 10.9 (rather than 10.10 Yosemite).

More info: There is no "spinning wheel" on the installer, and Activity Monitor does not report the task as "not responding".
