Installing CS4 is aborted

setup gives the message that the setup data base is damaged ( German: Die Installationsdatenbank ist beschädigt) Can I throw away the whole programm?

Mac OS: You can locate the OPM.db file in the \User\<user name>\Library\Application Support\Adobe\OOBE folder. To access the hidden user Library folder, see Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion.
Windows: You can locate the OPM.db file in the \Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE folder. To view the hidden AppData folder, see Show hidden files, folders, filename extensions | Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7.

I finally made it. It was so easy:I took off another Adobe Programme (Premiere Elements 12), so that there was no more Adobe Installation Data Base on the Harddisk. Then Installing CS4 was easy. Afterwards even the reinstalled Adobe Elements worked fine. Thank you for your help.

Legend

Delete the caps.db and its backups in the relevant folder then try again. The downloads are irrelevant to this particular problem.

Hi Mylenium,

I'm sorry, but I didn't understand your message. I was installing fron DVD. Where are the caps.db and the "relevant folders". Please notice that I#m not an IT-Expert.

and activate with your serial number.

if you have a problem downloading, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.

the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).

failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com

Thank you for your advice. I tried all steps and succeeded to the point where I tried to download from the list on your linked page. Some crypric response popped up and that was it. The message is in German, so I don't even try to translate it.
