Installing CS6 Design Standard on New MacBook Pro Terminal Install not working

On another forum for people who are having difficulty installing CS 6 on Sierra (New Macs), this link/solution is given: Installing Creative Suite on macOS 10.12 (Sierra)

However, I  tried following the link, and following the instructions. When I entered my CS6 serial number, this is the message I got: "The serial number is valid, but a qualifying product cannot be found on this computer. Then, it gives me a drop down menu with only CS5 options. My Products page on my account says the serial number is CS6, so I downloaded the CS6 Design Standard DMG. Any ideas as to what's happening? Thanks.

your cs6 serial number is for an upgrade version.

when you start your cs6 install, enter your cs6 serial number.  you will then be prompted to select a qualifying (ie, previous version) product.  select one you own and enter its (the previous version's) serial number.

enter the correct number at the correct time and installation will proceed.

The drop down menu does not include the previous version that's listed on my products page (CS3). I tried entering it anyways and it still did not take. I don't have CS5.

Any reason why it doesn't list the version I had, which was CS3, the one I have the serial number for?
