Question

Installing CS6 on old computer without old adobe ID

I want to install CC on my macbook, but would like to keep existing my CS6 operational, by loading it on an imac that will keep an older OS just for that. I bought CS6 on disks a very long time ago. Still have the box and all serial numbers, but I don't remember what adobe ID they were attached to. I copied everything to the iMac with Time Machine, inc the software, but now it is asking me to register it by signing in. The only Adobe ID that I use at the mo is linked to a much more recent email address (which did not even exist when I first installed my CS6 copy), and that account has CC subscription, which I can't use until I upgrade the OS on my laptop, which I don't want to do until CS6 works on the desktop. Tried to find a way of contacting Adobe directly but no joy. Any suggestions?

Creative Cloud and Creative Suite on the same system can lead to problems.  Creative Cloud takes over.   I would dedicate one machine to Creative Cloud and an older machine to Creative Suite, if possible.   You'll have fewer problems that way.

Hi Nancy,

That's exactly what I want to do, but I'm STILL having trouble installing on older computer (OS is compatible so no problem there). I installed from disk and filled all the information it asked for, which I had in the box, and when opening software it asks me to validate serial number, except when I click on "validate" it insists my computer is not connected to the internet, even though I have browsers open an working. This happens for all apps. What else can I do?

what's your default browser's tls support?

your default browser must support tls 1.2, https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/eol-tls-support.html

to test your default browser's tls you can use , https://clienttest.ssllabs.com:8443/ssltest/viewMyClient.html

using time machine to install anything adobe is problematic.

you should

restore your to-computer to pre migration state

properly uninstall cs6 (and everything else adobe) from your source computer

migrate your adobe free computer to your to-computer

properly install cs6 on the to-computer

activate with your serial number

no adobe id is needed for pre-cc software like cs6

That was gonna be my next try, but I guess I pre-emptively panicked. I had restored the source computer with time machine before and it worked perfectly, so I thought maybe it would work. I'll get my hands on a disk reader thing, then, and install it from scratch. Thanks!
