Question

Installing CS6 to a non Windows-OS drive

The way my rig's set up is thus:

120GB SSD - 2GB free

3TB mechanical - 1.5TB free

Space is at such a premium on the SSD that I'd like to be able to put all the applications I want to install from CS6 Master Collection onto my storage (s:) drive. It allows me to select the drive and folder, but as soon as I start installing, the target drive letter is automatically changed back to my Windows drive (c:) and I have no control over it.

What gives?

Some components will always be installed on your system root drive. That's nothing unusual. You should be able to install the main programs on anotehr drive, though. So what exactly do you do? Do you just pick the other drive's root or a specific folder? do you have sufficient permissions on the drive?

It should also be noted that you are losing many of the benefits of the SSD by running the Applications from your mechanical drive.  You will see a larger performance gain if you can run both the OS and the Apps from the SSD and then use a traditional hard drive for your storage of your documents.
