Installing LR to a new PC (was Mac now Windows)

Hi.

I want to install Lightroom to my new computer. When I bought Lightroom, it was for life, not those monthly payments. But now it seems like I have to pay again for the program. There must be a way to download it to my new computer (going from a mac to a windows).

Hope you can help, thanks 🙂

As I said, put your disc in the drive and enter your serial number when asked

    OR

    Program installers https://www.adobe.com/gr_en/downloads/other-downloads.html
If you are not able to find your program installer at 'other-downloads' read below
    .
    IMPORTANT NOTE:
The process below WILL NOT WORK if you have a (CS6 or earlier) serial number for an education or volume version, since the only downloads now available are the retail installers, which DO NOT work with an education or volume serial number
    .
    Go to https://www.adobe.com/about-adobe/contact.html
-click on the Chat bot on the bottom right hand corner of the first screen
--the chat bot is the circle with a funny looking box with 3 dots inside
-click on Downloading or Installing, then type Agent
    .
Do NOT let the support agent tell you to come to the forums for help... no user in a public forum has access to Adobe's internal links, you MUST obtain the program and update links from Adobe support
    .
AND when you finally do have a download link, be sure to copy every file you download to an external drive (or 2 or 3) so you never have to hunt for download links if they are moved again... also make a text file containing ALL of your serial numbers and copy that file as well

Problem solved! I did what John T Smith wrote. I downloaded the program and it works 🙂

Thank you so much for your help and time.

Not sure I understand this remark.

"my serial number works for both mac and windows, but apparently not any more."

What makes you think LR won't work on Windows?

Which version of Lightroom do you have?

What if any error messages or codes are you seeing?

Thanks for your answers. <my serialnumber works for both mac and windows, but apperently not any more.

So there is no way for me to buy the program again for my new computer, so that I only pay one amount for it and not every month? I dont use it so much anymore, but I have a lot of pictures stored in it, and im not interested in any cloud services or other programs from adobe.

There is no such thing as a "lifetime license."  You have a license to use the software for as long as it works on your equipment and OS.   After that, you can purchase a subscription to Creative Cloud Photography Plan.  It includes  Lightroom Classic, Lightroom CC and Photoshop with 20GB of cloud storage plus other perks for only $10/month.

    https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/plans.html

Creative Cloud products are not platform specific so you may install them on Windows, Mac or both.  Besides having  the latest photography software, your Creative Cloud subscription includes free upgrades for as long as you remain a member.

Unless you have a version that specifically says the serial number you bought will work on both, you may not go from Mac to Windows

If what you have does specifically say both, put your disc in the drive and enter the serial number when asked
