Installing twain file extensions for CS5?

I have downloaded  the optional plug-ins for my Mac, OS10.6.8, to enable the file/import command in CS5.  I want to scan images using my microtek i900 scanner.

The two plug-ins that I downloaded, CS5 Optional Plug-ins.mxp and CS5 Optional Extension Plug-ins.mxp,   will not open when I double-click them and follow the Mac installers directions that accompany those files.

What can I do?
