Interactive document or app development?

Hi, a client of mine wants to produce a digital photo album which customers would be able to edit. She came to me asking for an interactive document but I think the kind of product she wishes to provide would require an application where people could modify a given template to be printed. I know how to use Illustrator, Photoshop, and Indesign. Are there any other Adobe products which I could use to achieve this objective? Does anyone have experience developing something close to my description?

This sounds a lot like the online T-shirt printing service called Custom Ink.

They paid many thousands for their custom design application.  This requires expert coding skills in both server-side and client-side technologies.  Or you might export thsi to India and get it done cheaper than you could in North America.

This is a big software development project. The budget would need to be 6-7 figures. The big players have invested this much to keep competitive advantage.

This heavily stinks at custom software and probably over the net? There may be possibilities with website programming but it sounds quite complicated.

You could look into Animate CC or AIR for solutions to either/both... interactive document and/or modifiable template.  It can depend on the nature of the content that needs to be manipulated.

Thank you, Ned. She has to make up her mind, but it should be a sort of illustrated photo album whose photos are supposed to be editable. I'll look into Animate; I suppose AIR is not Adobe.
